Bradyn

My name is Bradyn, and I’ve been skiing for pretty much as long as I can remember—literally since I could walk. My parents actually have a pretty funny story about how I got into skiing. My mom totaled her car, and instead of getting money back, our family was given two years of season passes to Pats Peak Mountain. What started as a random situation ended up getting me into skiing for life.

I’ve grown up skiing freestyle and have spent years pushing myself to learn new tricks and become a better skier. I’ve won the New England Small Mountain Series twice and competed in both the first and second annual Henderson Invitational. I can do all kinds of off-axis spins and flips, and this year I’m hoping to push myself even further by going for a dub ten. I’ve been riding ON3P skis for a while, but I’m thinking about making the switch to Armada.

As a coach, I’d describe myself as fun and funny, but I know when it’s time to get serious. I really enjoy pushing the kids I coach to see what they are capable of while still making sure they’re having fun and enjoying skiing. Last year, I coached 9- and 10-year-olds, along with some 11-year-olds. At the beginning of the season, I asked each skier what their goals were. Throughout the season, I pushed them to work toward those goals, and almost every one of them either reached their goal or pushed past it and achieved an even bigger one.

One of the things I’m most proud of from last season was getting most of my athletes to try, and in many cases complete, a full rail by the end of the season. Seeing them go from being nervous to try something new to confidently landing something they had worked toward all season was one of my favorite parts of coaching.

For me, skiing isn’t just about learning tricks. It’s about challenging yourself, having fun, and seeing how far you can push yourself. That’s what I try to bring to my coaching and what I want every skier I work with to experience.
